#1: THE LOVE OF GOD
(from I John)
Note: Today’s devotional is from my new book, Proverbs of Faith, Hope, and Love, which is now released and published on Amazon and Kindle.
God is love; and whoever lives and remains in love,
lives and remains in God and God lives in and through him.
(4:8, 16)
One who is a new creation in Christ once loved the darkness,
but now loves the light of the Lord.
He once was careless about sin,
but now he detests it and loves righteousness.
He formally loved the lust and the pride of this world,
but now he loves the Lord and other people.
One who is in union with Christ has a new life;
The past is over and gone and now in Christ,
everything is alive, fresh, and new!
(3:4-9, 2:15-17, 10-14, II Corinthians 5:17-18)
Fellowship and partnership with God,
not partnership with the workers of iniquity;
and the love of God and not the love of the world,
describes the life of the born again believer.
(1:6-7, 2:8-11, 15-16, 3:4, 6-10, 24, John 15:4, 10)
Like a blind man stumbling, so is the one who walks
in spiritual darkness because he hates his brother.
But whoever loves God and other believers
need not fear stumbling, for he walks in love and light.
(2:3-11, 5:2)
Whoever loves God and his neighbor
has healthy vision and can see clearly.
But vision becomes dark and distorted
for one who begins to hate.
(2:9-11, Matthew 6:22-24)
Be not overcome with fear,
but overcome fear with faith and love.
(4:18, 5:4, Romans 12:21)
God is love and light;
and in Him is neither darkness nor a lack of love. (1:5, 2:5, 4:16)
Those who truly know God’s love for them
put their trust in His love.
For God’s love is constant, unchanging, trustworthy,
dependable and true.
(4:16, James 1:17, Malachi 3:6, I Corinthians 13:8)
