#4: Poem about God’s Love,
according to the book of Romans
Though I appear to be living up to all of God’s standards,
but am not walking in love or following His Spirit,
I fail to attain to His standard of love.
(Romans 14:15, 13:8, 10, 8:4, Galatians 5:14)
And though I interpret and teach the Old Testament rightly,
but am not practicing love,
I am not using the Scriptures in a beneficial way.
(Romans 13:8, 10, I Timothy 1:8, 5)
And though I seek to prove what is good and right,
but I am not bearing with others and seeking to help them grow,
I accomplish nothing.
And though my opinions are sound and my faith is strong,
if I debate and quarrel with those who are weak in faith,
I do more harm than good.
For it is better to leave opinions unsettled
than to judge and put a stumbling block before a fellow Christian.
(Romans 14:1-4, 10, 13-16, 20-21, II Corinthians 12:20)
Love rejoices in hope, is patient and enduring through troubles,
and is quick to show hospitality.
(Romans 12:12-13)
Love hates what is evil and clings to what is good.
Love communicates tenderness, devotion and affection.
Love delights in showing honor and respect to others.
Love motivates to prayer, with a zeal and fervency.
(Romans 12:9-11)
Love does not curse persecutors, but blesses them.
Love does not repay evil for evil.
Love promotes humility and acceptance.
Love does its part to bring about peace and harmony.
Love aims for the building up of others.
(Romans 12:14-18, 14:3-4, 10, 19)
Love is not overwhelmed by evil,
but overcomes evil with good.
(Romans 12:21)
Love shares joy with those who are rejoicing
and is sorrowful with those who sorrow.
(Romans 12:15-18)
Because of His great love, God gave us His best,
even when we were living sinful lives.
While we were still sinners,
Christ loved us and died for us.
(Romans 5:8)
And now, nothing can separate us from the love of God
which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
Neither death, nor this life, nor fallen angels, nor any creature,
nor things to come can separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
(Romans 8:38-39)
