A WALL OF FIRE FOR OUR NATION
Many of us would like to see the wall finished on our southern border to help to stop the flow of drugs, gangs, terrorists, and COVID -19 infected people into our country. What can we do? Besides writing our representatives in Congress and our Senators, we can pray according to Zechariah 2:4-5 that God will establish a wall of fire at our border: “Jerusalem will be inhabited as towns without walls . . . `For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst’”. As we wait to see our physical wall finished, we can “make a wall, and stand in the gap” before the Lord on the behalf of our land (Ezekiel 22:30).
The following prayer draws from and paraphrases parts of Psalm 40 and a few other Scriptures. Please join me in praying for our great nation:
“Heavenly Father, we know that You promised that those who make You their trust will be blessed. You also declared that blessed are those who do not respect the proud nor turn aside to lies. Lord, You have done many wonderful things for us! Your thoughts towards us for our good are more than we can number. We hide Your Word in our hearts and we delight to do Your will.
“Heavenly Father, we pray for boldness, love, and anointing as we proclaim the Good News of righteousness through Jesus Christ. We will not restrain our lips or hide Your righteousness in our hearts. We will declare Your faithfulness and Your salvation. We will not keep Your lovingkindness and truth to ourselves.”
“Heavenly Father, we pray for Your tender mercies to be upon our nation. May Your lovingkindness and truth continually preserve our nation. Lord, innumerable evils and iniquities now surround us and our nation. Heavenly Father, deliver Your people and spare this nation that was dedicated to You by our forefathers.
“And let the plans of those who seek to destroy this nation be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion. Let the cause of those who wish Your Church harm, be driven backward and brought to dishonor. And let Your enemies be confounded because of their shame. Divide their tongues and scatter them by Your power and bring them down. For You are our Shield.
And Lord, be a wall of fire all across our southern border to protect our nation from evil. Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You. We love Your salvation and we will say continually, Let the Lord be magnified! Thank You, Father, that You are a wall of fire all across our southern border, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen” (paraphrased from Psalm 40:4-5, 8-17 and 55:9 and 59:11, Zechariah 2:4-5).
